Oil painting pens are divided into soft pens and hard pens, and the method of pen use is related to the degree of dilution of the paint. The bristles pen for oil paintings is cheap and has thick hair. It is suitable for painting dry paints and large areas and thick coatings.
Oil painting soft pen, wolf pen, and man-made fiber hair
The former is suitable for painting partial details, such as portraits of human faces, realistic still lifes, etc.;
The latter is suitable for painting the imaginary part of a large area, such as the background color of the distant sky, distant mountains, and the clothing materials of the characters.
If you start to learn to paint, it is recommended to use hard pens. Only hard pens can express the crude oil painting style. The painting colors of hard pens are also richer than soft pens, and there are various types of bristles pens. The soft pen is only suitable for realistic painting styles. Due to the limitation of brush materials, soft pens are mainly small and medium-sized, especially the wolf hair (actually the hair on the tail of the weasel and fox) only has a small size (maximum 2 Cm wide).
